Scrap it!

Scrap it!

Today's layout is filled with bits and pieces from various ranges!  It's fun to simply mix it up and create with all those fun pieces!

The blues, pinks, and greens from our Hearts and Stripes, Bolt and Happy Days papers are perfect together!

Layered in some banners here, and added in a doily and one of our mason jars from the Happy Days range.  The Bella! floral is a nice accent here.  And so very girly.

The droplets are one of my favorite embellishments, and they are so sweet above the mason jars.

Supply List:

Hearts and Stripes

Bolt

Happy Days

Droplets

Bella! Florals

Sweet Wishes for you!

by Alicia Barry | May 14, 2016
Sweet Wishes for you!
This month we are celebrating birthdays at Ruby Rock-It. A little while ago, I attended a birthday celebration where my friend was gives a wishes jar. Each person wrote a special wish for our friend and put it in the jar as a keepsake for her. I love the idea.
It will soon be my daughter's birthday and thought I would make my own version of a message in a bottle style wish jar.
I started by priming a glass bottle with gesso. Next I swiped some texture paste over the bottle and heat set. After that I added lots of crackle paint and left to dry.

I used watered down silks in a variety of colours, allowing the paint to sink into the cracks. I blotted the wet paint to blend, and create a watercolour effect.  I used texture paste mixed with metallic paint through a stencil to add even more texture. I added some microbeads into the wet media.

Once everything was dry, I used Happy Days papers, die cuts wood veneers and droplets to create the embellishments.

Mini Ranges | Sweet baby girl

by Teresa Horner | May 12, 2016

Hi Ruby Rock-it fans... it's a beautiful Wednesday here in the states and today i have project to share with all of you that is a fun off the page one using the new Baby Girl Mini set.

This set is really cute with all the fun little sentiments and patterns to make lots of fun little things for a new baby girl in your life or catch up with photos that you have stashed away.  I have a friend at working having her first baby and it's going to be a girl so i made a little box to put a few things in that i bought and a gift card and also a card to go with it.

For the box i used a round kraft paper mache one that is about 6 inches or so and then covered it with papers from the baby girl collection.  Then i chalked a wooden doily that i picked up and sprinkled it with pixie dust glitter to make it all glitter and white to match the paper.  The cute little bear and the Baby girl banner and hearts are part of the Die cut pack and i just layered them on the top and added a box with the little 3D blocks in the set.  It's super easy and I really love the little touches of gold in it.

For my card i started with a white card base and then layered over bits of the left over papers from the box.  The "Love you to the moon and back" moon is a die cut too and I popped it up with foam dots and then glued it over the cute white bow that i tied over the top layer of the card.  I really like this one and the cute little gold heart was the perfect touch to add to make the sentiment even more special.

And i even had enough to make up a quick banner to decorate.  This one was also made with the scraps and i found these beautiful gold letters from the new Faded Empire collection that went great and were the perfect size.  I also added a few more die cuts to these so she could keep it as a keepsake after the baby gets older.  It's so fun to make all these cute things and so exciting for her and the new addition to her family.

Here is a closeup view of the tags that i added both above and below.  They are so cute!

And that is my share for today and i hope you liked it.  Below is a list of the things i used and a link to find them on the website.  Have a really wonderful day and thank you for stopping by.
Supplies Used:
white bias ribbon, gold glitter pen, wood lazer die cut, pixie dust glitter,
3D foam squares, adhesive, paper trimmer, scissors, paper mache box.

Thank you, Mom

by Erin Yamabe | May 7, 2016
Thank you, Mom

There are so many things we appreciate about the Moms in our lives!  As we wrap up our Mother's Day card inpiration week, here's a pair for those Moms who have birthdays or who would appreciate a simple Thank You!

For this first card, I've layered our lovely Hearts and Stripes paper, with some fussy cutting flowers from our Happy Days range!  The paper swirls are also from our Hearts and Stripes range!

This little cluster with our Fundamentals chipboard numbers makes me very happy!  My Mom's favorite number is 3, so I added in some ink for her number.  The droplets are the perfect embellishment here, among the layered papers and numbers!

For the sentiment, I mixed our Fundamentals alpha stickers, sentiment stickers, and our wood veneers!

For the Thank You card, I started with some of our Bolt paper for the background.  Then, I layered on some of our Happy Days "B" side paper.

I added some ink to the honeycomb wood veneer, and the THANK wood veneer letters.  And placed the wood veneer heart underneath the YOU from our Fundamentals alpha stickers.

Supply List:

Happy Days papers

Bolt papers

Hearts and Stripes papers

Happy Days wood veneers

Happy Days droplets

Fundamentals wood veneers

For you, Mom!

by Beckie Dreyer | May 3, 2016
For you, Mom!
Today  I am here to share some inspiration for Mother's day.  I have used one of my favourite collections, Happy Days, to create the cards.   I just love the fresh fun colours and designs of this collection.
This is a simple card to make and is a stepper version.  Cutting out the family of owls I added them along the fold of the card to give it a look as if they are perched on the edge of a tree.

This next card is made using all the little left over pieces that I have saved from other projects.  There was a lot of fussy cutting in this one but I really enjoyed creating this card.

Finally this card uses a die cut butterfly and a greeting cut from the 'Happy Days' paper.  A few left over strips of paper adds some colour to the back of the card.

Grateful for you, Mom

Grateful for you, Mom
It's almost Mother's Day so I have created some cards for the occasion, using a combination of Faded Empire and Bolt paper collections. The fussy cut flowers are form one and the background is from the other, but they work real nicely together.

I combines los of layers on this one with fussy cut flowers, Bella! florals and some veneer letters. In fact this card was mostly created with scraps left over form other projects.

Simple Beauty

by Alicia Barry | April 28, 2016
Simple Beauty

This month, we are celebrating all things spring. We moved to our current house 6 months ago in the middle of the Californian drought, and our yard was less that inspirational. It was little more than dirt and dust. With a bit of luck, we have had some rain, and we have been surprised with two amazing rose bushes, that over the last two weeks, have given us dozens of the biggest and prettiest roses we've ever seen. Even the grass is green again.  This layout shows just a tiny snippet of what is blooming.

I used a background sheet from the wood collection, and teamed it with some Faded Empire papers and embellishments.
