Father's Day fun!

by Beckie Dreyer | June 2, 2016
Father's Day fun!
Hello!! It's hard to believe that summer is nearly upon us and the weather has finally warmed up!  At this time of year our thoughts always turn to Father's/Dad's/Pop's or what ever these special men in your life may be called.
Today I am here to share with you some inspiration for Father's day with a little gift and card made using the Boy Mini Theme set.
The 'Boy' Mini Theme set has some really cool greeting on the papers and some brilliant little die cuts too.  I saw an opportunity to use some of the iwood papers too to create these masculine gifts.
The iwood paper is used here to create a banner on the back of the card to break up the black card a bit.  There is a piece of the collection which has lovely hues of blue on it as well as the brown colour.
I cut out one of the greetings and then built up around it using the die cuts.
The beer bottle has some of the iwood paper wrapped around the centre and then I used the 'Boy's papers to create a label for the front.  The wood veneer products work fabulously for this.

Hope you have a great time creating for your father's and don't forget to look out for the Bella! Iwood collection at your local craft supplier!

My Happy!

by Alicia Barry | May 28, 2016
My Happy!
I love the bright and happy collection called Happy Days, so when I was assigned a free choice project this month, I jumped at the chance to pull this one out and have a play. I always seem to be short on some general occasion cards when I need them in a pinch, so this range is perfect for just that.

These cards are created mostly with left over pieces from other projects, combined with some die cut frames. I usually use lots of foam dots in between the layers to create dimension.
I used some paint dots on each one to accentuate the embellishments.

Graduation, what a milestone!

by Teresa Horner | May 26, 2016

Hi everyone and I am so happy that you stopped by for a little Ruby Rock-it inspiration today.  It's graduation time so i decided to use some of the gorgeous papers from the "Graduation Day" Mini themed set.  It has lots of beautiful prints with grad hats and  and of course die cuts that go perfectly.

I have a work friend who is graduating this week and i wanted to make something special for her to
remember this amazing accomplishment in her life.  The stickers for this have such great sentiments on each of them and it all went together really easy just layering lots of pieces of the papers behind the photo and then adding some stenciled pin dots on the top and bottom to give it a little more texture and tie it all together nicely.  The little gold stars come in the die cuts so that was a nice little touch since she is going into a television and movie career.

Here is a good closeup of the 3D embellishment.  It's so pretty with the chalkboard and gold mixed together and i added the diploma and a few of the Life Documented stickers around it too.

And here is just another quick closeup of the layering.  Each side of the papers had such pretty prints and they go so great together.  Since there is pink in the picture i added a small piece of the pink stripe and splattered some pink paint to make it go together better.
And i even made a card to go with the framed page for her.  I think the sentiment fit so well with
all the amazing things she wants to do in her life so i just used it with a few bits of the paper matted
with white and black cardstock and added a bow on the side.  It was super easy to make.  I hope that all my projects today gave you a little inspiration to make up a few things of your own for a grad in your life.  Enjoy and have a really great day!
Thanks so much for stopping by and below i put my shopping list to make it easy for you!
Supplies needed:
Black and White Rhinestones
Black and white cardstock
white ribbon
glass bead glitter
stencil
pink paint
paper trimmer, adhesive and scissors

Remember When...

Remember When...

Hello, this month we have been celebrating mums and today I wanted to share a layout that I made in honour of a beautiful 'Godmum' to my girls.  She is such a fun loving lady and just brings sunshine where ever she is.  She makes us giggle and the girls just love her to bits!

This photo was taken just after she had surprised the them and it was a brilliant day.  Needless to say I used one of my favourite ranges 'Happy Days' again to create the layout.

I used a paper punch to create the scalloped edge and then added some of the droplets in different sizes along the edge to give it a 3D effect.  The die cuts added some dimension to by adding them with foam pads.

Another thing that the Happy Days collection is great for is fussy cutting, so many little this to cut out like the singing bird in the picture above.

Another addition to the layout with the wood veneer is the clear wording that stick easily on to your projects without taking over the whole layout.

Scrap it!

by Erin Yamabe | May 17, 2016
Scrap it!

Today's layout is filled with bits and pieces from various ranges!  It's fun to simply mix it up and create with all those fun pieces!

The blues, pinks, and greens from our Hearts and Stripes, Bolt and Happy Days papers are perfect together!

Layered in some banners here, and added in a doily and one of our mason jars from the Happy Days range.  The Bella! floral is a nice accent here.  And so very girly.

The droplets are one of my favorite embellishments, and they are so sweet above the mason jars.

Supply List:

Hearts and Stripes

Bolt

Happy Days

Droplets

Bella! Florals

Thank you for stopping by and making Ruby Rock-It a part of your creative day!

Sweet Wishes for you!

by Alicia Barry | May 14, 2016
Sweet Wishes for you!
This month we are celebrating birthdays at Ruby Rock-It. A little while ago, I attended a birthday celebration where my friend was gives a wishes jar. Each person wrote a special wish for our friend and put it in the jar as a keepsake for her. I love the idea.
It will soon be my daughter's birthday and thought I would make my own version of a message in a bottle style wish jar.
I started by priming a glass bottle with gesso. Next I swiped some texture paste over the bottle and heat set. After that I added lots of crackle paint and left to dry.

I used watered down silks in a variety of colours, allowing the paint to sink into the cracks. I blotted the wet paint to blend, and create a watercolour effect.  I used texture paste mixed with metallic paint through a stencil to add even more texture. I added some microbeads into the wet media.

Once everything was dry, I used Happy Days papers, die cuts wood veneers and droplets to create the embellishments.
