A Fresh New Look

A Fresh New Look
Today I have some fresh new cards to share with you using the brand new sewing inspired Bolt paper collection and embellishments.
For my first card, I used some fussy cut floral pieces and some offcuts from other papers, including some corrugated cardstock and some pretty little droplets. The imprinted pattern in the cardstock was enough of a pattern to keep the rest of the design simple.

Next up I layered some patterned paper with more corrugated board, and some die cuts for a simple but pretty card.

Finally I layered patterned paper and corrugated card for a bold background. Fussy cut elements and die cuts were combined to create a focus cluster. Notice how I used a stitch stamp under the sentiment. I really like the subtle touch of gold on the die cut butterfly.

Sweet Greetings

by Erin Yamabe | February 25, 2016

"Sweet Greetings" or simple Hello cards are some of my very favorite to create and send!  As handmade and hand written cards are becoming outdated, there's nothing sweeter I think to send to a dear friend or loved one to brighten their day!

For the first card, I started with some of our gorgeous IWood paper for the foundation.  I've layered on top some of our pink corrugated cardboard paper!  And then, I chose one of our Bolt papers and punched out some circles!

One of my favorite embellishments are our amazing diecuts!  I chose some to layer in, and then added in our darling chipboard buttons and some pretty droplets!

To finish off the card, I added one of our wood veneer pieces and some of our Fundamentals alpha stickers!

For this next card, I started by creating a banner with our lovely Gold corrugated cardboard paper.  And added in a die cutted scalloped box as the centerpiece.

The Fundamentals alpha stickers and droplets completed this sweet greet card!

These supplies are all from our Bolt range: papers, diecuts, droplets, chipboard buttons.

Thank you for stopping by and making Ruby Rock-It a part of your creative day!

Creative Cards with Bolt

by Teresa Horner | February 20, 2016

There is a brand new paper line out this month for Ruby Rock-it and if you love sewing or have pages to do for all those crafty people in your family then you will love it.  It's called "Bolt" and it's filled with cute little prints that are sewing inspired.  Today it's "Creative Cards"day so i thought i would share some fun cards that i did with the new stitching stamp and the papers.

For my cards i used bits of the paper and lots of the die cuts layered over the top of each one.  These were super fun to make.  I love the ruler paper and the buttons and the colors on each of the prints are so bright and cheerful.  For the Life is good card we also have a new stamp that coordinates with the papers.  There are 3 styles of stitching it so you can stamp the stitching on your cards in any color that you like.  I love that idea and you don't even need a sewing machine !

Here is a closeup of my favorite card i did this time.  We also have water droplets that come in the set with pretty shades of pink, green, gold and i used in pink for the back round and on the bow.  It adds the perfect amount of shine to it.

And for this card i used the printed aqua paper for the base and then layered on simple strips of the ruler paper and the coordinating printed papers.  Then i stamped a stitch at the top and bottom in black ink and finished it with a golden die cut heart and that gorgeous butterfly in aqua.  All it needed with a simple gold cord bow and it's all done and ready to mail out.

And for this one we have some brand new corrugated papers that even come in gold.  How fun is that to use for projects?  I matted a small piece of white over it and then added two of the printed triangle banners up and down and then over that 2 butterflies and then finished it with 3 of the gold chipboard buttons that come in the set.  The clear golden water droplets gave it the perfect bit of shine.  Its' fun to try something way out of the box and you never know what you may end up with....

And lastly for this card i used just some bits of the paper to make strips to go across a simple kraft card.  Then i layered one of the spools from the die cuts and added a few chipboard buttons.  Of course it needed some lace so i cut a small piece from the Bella Bling set and glued that on.  Then i found this really cute saying in the wood veneers "Love is the Thread that binds us together" and it worked just perfect.  I love this set since i love to sew myself and can think of a million things to make with it.  I hope you all do too!!
Enjoy your day and have a really wonderful weekend!  Cheers!

A little gift

by Beckie Dreyer | February 16, 2016
A little gift
Hello!  I have been creating again with the new winter release: Bolt and this time I decided to alter a tin that I had lying around along with some of the 'gifts' found in the Christmas crackers and turn it into a little gift.
I drew around the outside of the tin so I had a background to work on.  I added some of the tape measure which I cut from the paper and also one of the spool tops.  The sizing chart is from the die cut pack and was brilliant as a backing.  I finished off the top with one of the chipboard buttons.

On the inside of the tin I decorated it with some of the papers and added one of the wood veneer plaques to the inside of the lid.
I made a little pin holder using one of the die cuts.  I added a folded piece of paper underneath along with some felt.  I used the little alphabets to add 'pins' to it.
When it was finished I added all the bits and bobs in and it is now ready to be placed in a handbag for little emergencies!!

Sweet Valentine

by Alicia Barry | February 13, 2016
Sweet Valentine
It's almost Valentines day, so I have made a little gift box to celebrate. Rather than start entirely from scratch, I used a store bought box which I then broke down to use as a template. (You could also just re-cover the existing the box if you prefer).
I have used the brand new Faded Empire line for this project, including some co-ordinating die cuts and wood veneers. I added some texture to the background paper using a stencil and some texture paint along with some crackle paint sections.
I fussy cut the main floral image, and then layered up from there using Bella! florals, which I spritzed with iridescent spray. This made them sparkle, and also gave me the opportunity to wrinkle them while wet.

For the love of Valentines

by Teresa Horner | February 11, 2016
For the love of Valentines

Hey Ruby Rock-it fans it's Teresa here to share a few Valentine projects that I made up to send to my family and friends to let them know how special they are this time of year.  Working at the Scrapbook store I heard so many of our guests say they didn't have Valentines but that shouldn't stop you from making something nice for coworkers or friends to say that you care... so with that in mind let's get started.  Oh and i got a little carried away with creating so grab a cup and relax....

First up is a page that i made to put in a frame for a wedding that is coming up this March.  They are two of the most amazing people and i wanted to make something special for them to put up in their new apartment.  I used the "Happy Days" Collection because all the little hearts in it really said LOVE to me.  And the rest just followed.
I used the "Hoot", "Bouquet" and "Captured Moments" to make the layered base for my page and then i added the "3D Stickers", the "Die Cuts" and a few of the "Droplets" to finish it.  It was super fun to make all the little groupings around the photo to make it really pretty for them.
Here you can see all the pretty colors in the papers and the designs.  It's such a cute line and there are so many things that you can make with it.  So that is why i also did lots of cards to give with the leftovers that i had in the collection....
With the extra pieces in the set i cut apart the little 4x4 pieces in the "Patchwork" paper and made these cute little cards.  They are just nice sweet sentiments so they are Valentine inspired but don't have to give to someone that you are in love with exactly.  Just someone that you care about or are thinking of would still be fun to do and maybe give a special something you baked.
This one is my favorite.  I love the sentiment so i used the watering can and made that cute little sun behind it with a yellow circle and cut little triangles for the rays with the yellow printed paper. Adding the white matting helped to tie it all together and really made it pop.  How cute right?

This one went together really quick.  Both of the aqua pieces are part of the Patchwork paper and the tiny little hello is from the "Chit Chat" paper.  There is a ton of cute sayings on it and you could use it for so much.

And this one i made with one of the cute sayings matted in the center and popped up and the papers are also from the Patchwork paper.  The prints really go great together and it's printed on both sides so you have that many more ways to use it.

This one i made with the wood grain paper for the base and added some of the banner die cuts and the cute little birds. It's really bright and cute and super easy to make.
And my last card i fussy cut one of the bottles on the paper and layered on the heart and the bouquet of flowers from the 3D embellishments.  Then i cut a strip of the blue stripe to go behind it with some doilies that i cut from a die cut i had in my stash.  The sentiment is from the paper and it can go to someone that you want to say Thank you for just having a fun day with.  It's fun to send cards to people and I think we need to send more just to make the world a nicer place!!  So have fun creating and i hope i gave you a few ideas to inspire you to make something for someone you care about this holiday... and don't forget to get your kids involved.  It's always fun to do things as a family :)

Pretty Little Things with Faded Empire

by Christine Santos | February 9, 2016
Pretty Little Things with Faded Empire

Ruby Rock It Inspiration Banner

I've had a delightful start this month playing with the gorgeous new Bella collections, & today I get to share with you a frame I made which features 2 of the new ranges: iWood & Faded Empire. Faded Empire FrameChristine Santos

How pretty is the colorful wood pattern at the base of the frame? This is just one of the many awesome designs from the iWood collection. IMG_8061Christine Santos

I've cut out the lady, border of flowers, & a couple of butterflies from lush Faded Empire papers. As you can see the backdrop is from the same collection as well. Every single paper is filled with texture & you'll find it hard which side of each paper to use! IMG_8064Christine Santos

The foiled chipboard alphas (from Faded Empire collection, of course) are delish & gave the right amount of shine to this frame. I've die cut the rest of the alphas with Bella's awesome Turquoise Corrugated Cardboard. It looks wonderful against the rich color of the Faded Empire papers. IMG_8071Christine Santos

The cluster is made up of Bella Florals, Faded Empire Wood Veneers & Die Cuts. This is the perfect Bella collection to go floral all the way.

IMG_8065Christine Santos

Did I mention how pretty the Faded Empire stamps are as well? In this frame it gave a little extra definition at the edges. Here's a recap of the Bella products: Faded Empire Collection (Papers; Alpha Chipboard; Wood Veneers; Die Cuts; Stamps) iWood Collection Bella Florals I hope you enjoyed my post today. Do check out the Bella shop hereCheers, key
