April Guest Designer | Kate Vickers

by Ruby Rock-It Bella! Fundamentals | April 29, 2013

Hello to you, our faithful Ruby Rock-it Fans!  Please give a very warm welcome to our guest designer: Kate Vickers for this month!

Kate-Vickers

Let's get to know her a bit...shall we?

1.  what inspires you and your work?

I honestly don't know! I have asked myself that very question a few times and I don't have a definite answer. There are many things that inspire me including the photos and papers that I'm working with, other scrapbooker's and manufacturer's blogs, books and magazines and sometimes it's just something random in my environment that inspires me.

2.  what is your creative process like?

I don't pre-plan my layouts out very often, I usually just sit down and go! I usually end up using my Silhouette Cameo for one or several items on the page. Sometimes I start in Photoshop with editing my photos, which sometimes spurs on an idea for how I want to scrap the photos.

3.  what is/are your go to tools?

My number one go-to tool is my Silhouette Cameo. I originally had the Silhouette SD and I upgraded to the Cameo almost as soon as it came out. My sewing machine (Huskvarna-Viking H Class) is my second most used tool. And, my third most used tool is my Epiphany Crafts tools and epoxies. I love being able to make my own epoxy shapes! I used all these things on my guest projects.

4.  where you're from

I live in the suburbs of Toronto, Ontario -- Canada's largest city. Foreigners always assume that's it's our capital, but that's actually Ottawa, Ontario, not Toronto.

5.  anything else you would like to share!

I have never scrapped a layout from my wedding before, even though it was almost 11 years ago! I started scrapping shortly after I had my first child 8 years ago and I have been trying hard to keep up to date on my children's layouts ever since. There was never any opportunity to scrap any wedding photos. The Anniversary mini theme just happened to match the colours of my wedding perfectly, so I automatically thought of my wedding when I saw the papers.

And now for her wonderful projects:
