Banners, Tags, and Pockets... Oh My!

by Sarah Hill | January 16, 2012

Our fabulous DT member Carrie inspired our challenge this week with an "old and new" theme. In the scrapbook world there are older techniques that sometimes fall to the wayside, while there are newer techniques that you see on projects everywhere. I wanted to take 3 techniques (2 older and 1 newer) and use them in a modern way.

Let's start with an "older" technique, but you can still use in a fun way: Tags

Jan Nostalgia Card

This adorable, simple card is perfect to give to someone on a rainy day or Just Because :)

Let's look at a second technique that might be a little "older": Pockets

 Jan Nostalgia Favor Bag

I wanted to do something a little different with the pocket idea, so I created this favor bag. You can whip one of these bags up for a birthday party, a co-worker, or any occasion! I made the pocket on the outside to fit a gift card (Don't worry! This Gift Card is all used up... sorry, no money on it!! LOL). Since it's a favor bag, you can put some candies in the inside for a little something extra. I actually used some of the plastic packaging to make the inside of the favor bag. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle!! :)

Now we can look at a newer technique that you might be familiar with: Banners!!!

Jan Nostalgia LO

Jan Nostalgia LO 1

Jan Nostalgia LO 2

I absolutely LOVE banners!! They are extremely easy to add a little bit of flair to your pages, cards, projects, etc.

Play along with this week's challenge to win an entire Ruby Rock-It collection!! What will you create?? Find the details of Carrie's challenge HERE.
