Beyond The Page with Happy Days!

by Teresa Horner | August 22, 2015

Hey Ruby Rock-it fans it's Beyond the Page day here and i have a few fun projects to share with you using the brand new "Happy Days Collection".  The colors and cute designs on all of it were so adorable and I had so much fun creating this jewelry box, mini book and card.

To start making my project i first sanded a wooden jewelry box that i got at my local craft store. Then painted on a layer of sealer and then painted it with a light pink acrylic paint a couple of times sanding between coats.  I painted all the insides too so that it would match the papers when i put them in.  For this you need a ruler and a pencil and it's also a good idea to make thin paper patterns just to make sure the pieces fit before you cut into your pretty papers.
The bottom drawer was the perfect size to create a cute mini book to give with the box.  There were so many cute stickers and die cut pieces i kind of went a little crazy but had so much fun making it.

Here is a shot of the top inside drawer for the box.  I used bot the flower patterned paper and the crackled paint paper in pink.  They both go so beautifully together.
And for my top i used the flower patterned paper (HY19) and matted it with white.  Boxes and things like this go together so much better when you mix the media like paper and wood together.  And to finish it and seal it you can use a light coat of decoupage medium and let it dry really well.
And here is a shot of the top and the insides of my accordian book that i did for the inside.  I just measured the height and width of the drawer and made it just a bit smaller so that it had room to pop up.  I used lots of the 3D Stickers and the Gold Chipboard letters that went with this set.  It's so cute!

And these little owl 3D Stickers were just too cute so i made up a quick card using this neat paper that came in the set that is already cut in squares.  I just cut them smaller and matted them and added a cute sentiment from the Happy Days Patchwork paper and the little 3D owls.  I so love this color combination, it looks so happy and cheerful.....
And here is a supply list so that you can be sure and pick up some of this adorable paper for a project that you might be needing soon... It's just way to cute!!
