China Doll Bookmarks

by Sandy Ang | August 15, 2012

China Blue, featuring patterns and motifs inspired by blue and white chinese porcelain, is a CHA Summer 2012 collection that has received an enthusiastic response. It's also a favourite among our designers. Check out the beautiful projects created by Rebecca Keppel, Carrie Walz, Keely Yowler here , here and here.

The scaled-down patterns of the collection's tag set inspired me to create these china doll bookmarks presented in an exploding chinese take-out box. Here is the handmade flower created for the top of the giftbox. I fussy-cut five flowers from pattern papers, shaped their edges for dimension and layered them together with a brad to secure.

China Doll Bookmark template and instruction :

  • cut the dress pieces from two similar tags
  • glue them together so the patterns are showing on the outside
  • cut the hair pieces from black cardstock and 1 1/4" face piece from white cardstock
  • sandwhich the face piece between the hair pieces and glue down
  • insert the neck of the dress piece behind the face and glue down
  • optional to add paper or ribbon trim around the neckline

These bookmarks are easy to make and fun to use so why not get your children to join you in trying out this papercrafting project ?

cheers, Sandy
