Friday Tutorial | Adding sparkle

My baby girl is turning 10 soon, and I wanted to make a substantial card to commemorate the occasion. I remember she squealed when she saw the richly glittered goodness of the Kraftastic range of papers, so the choice of paper was easy. I went with Starry Night in blue, her favourite colour.

I received the Home Mixbles Album from Clear Scraps, and in that was a star shape I used for the front of my card. This was all fitting together nicely! Here's the completed card:

After using the acrylic shape as a template to cut a couple of layers of Starry Night paper, I used the wonderfully sparkly Oriental Chic Alphabet stickers to spell out her name. To help the name stand out from the patterned background, I added a plain piece of kraft behind it. I applied tiny dots of adhesive behind each letter so that it wouldn't show through the clear acrylic:

and then trimmed off the excess using a craft knife:

I then added a piece of Blue Chevron patterned paper behind that:

and then I sponged some gesso through a stencil (because you can never have enough stars!):

I cut out three more stars from the Starry Night paper to further embellish the front of the card, and the result is lots and lots of layers of interest without too much bulk. Here's a side view:

I hope you've enjoyed this look at my card made from an acrylic album page! Thanks for dropping by.
