Let's "Eat Cake" Birthday cards

"May is card making month with Ruby Rock-It Brands and I'm starting it off with a quick and easy embossed background tutorial."

Here's what you'll need:

Ruby Rock-It Brands materials: Francheville Pastel Cardstock Set, Francheville White Mini Doilies, Fundamentals Gelato Sentiment Toppers.  Ranger Distress Inkpads: Shaded Lilac, Wilted Violet, Peacock Feathers, Foam Applicator.  Other materials: Big Shot, Embossing Sheet, Foam Flowers

Here's a look at the set of Petite Birthday cards. You can never have too many birthday cards ready in your stash.


Here's a quick and easy step by step for an embossed background. Note that for demonstration purposes I have used a white cardstock instead of the purple cardstock. The finished cards pictured are inked with the Wilted Violet Distress Inkpad on the embossed background of the purple cardstock.

Trim the Francheville Cardstock in half. Choose your desired embossing background design and sandwich this inside your die cutting machine.

Run this through the machine at least twice to ensure a good raised embossed finish.

With the foam applicator, apply your desired color and shade this throughout the card working your way outwards in. You can build up the colour as light or as dark as you want.

And there you have it, an easy and effective card backgound with color and texture.

All that needs to be done now is to layer the inked doily, flowers, and sentiment on top of the card and voila!
