Mother Nature Wall Decor by Becky Olsen

by Becky Olsen | October 20, 2012

I love making gifts from my paper and crafting stash, and with the holiday just around the corner I thought it would be fun to share a project idea that can be made on a budget and is pretty easy to do.

The first thing I did was use a coupon at my local craft store to by a 3 pack of the wooden embroidery hoops, they ended up costing about $6 ($2 each!) and pulled out my pack of Mother Nature papers and trim (I did use the pink pompom trim from Arcadia) The Butterfly Decoupage set was the perfect finishing touch to pull it all together.

Trace around each hoop on the papers that you want to use, trim about 1/4" extra so that you have room to fold over the edges. Lightly adhere the circle to the inside ring of the frame and let dry. Trim around the outside of the hoop about 1/4" so that the paper will fold easily around the hoop and then place the outer ring on and tighten into place.

Decorate with your favorite combinations of papers, trims and tags for a personalized project. Try not to fall in love with the project too much if it is intended to be a gift ;o)

I am so happy with how mine turned out, they have a really vintage fresh vibe. I have them in mind as a house warming gift for my sister who is moving in a just a week. Sssshhhh, don't tell her  ;o)

Happy Crafting!
