South Africa | Scrapbook Convention Fun!

Hello Ruby Rock-It Fans!  We have some fun news to share!  We are sponsoring a wonderful event in South Africa!

Here are the fun facts about this inspiring crafting event!

'Welcome to the SA International Scrapbook Convention! With breathtaking
beaches, majestic mountains and diverse cities, South Africa is the perfect
destination for an exciting week of scrapbooking fun. My parents, who lived
in South Africa for a time, have shared many wonderful stories about the
South African people and culture with me. That's why I'm so thrilled that
something I love - scrapbooking - has become such a hit in this magnificent
country. I'm delighted to share my love of this hobby with you. Enjoy your
time at the SA International Scrapbook Convention. Savor this opportunity to
learn new techniques and make lifelong friends. With idea-packed classes and
fun-filled activities, this experience is sure to be one you'll never
forget!' Lisa Bearnson, Founding Editor of Creating Keepsakes Scrapbook
Magazines' welcoming letter to the delegates in 2004.

In 2004 Becky Higgins, Tracy White, Faye Morrow Bell and Rebecca Sower were
the first to share their creativity, experiences and knowledge with the
delegates at Emperors Palace, Johannesburg.

SA International Scrapbook Convention 2005 hosted Heidi Swapp, Donna Downey,
Stacy Julian, Karen Foster and Anita Oldham who provided valuable time and
insight into this exhilarating industry. The event also saw EPSON as a major
sponsor for the first Scrapbook Expo that was held in conjunction with the
convention. Many local and international manufacturers, distributors,
wholesalers, retailers and teachers contributed and supported the event and
the expo.

SA International Scrapbook Convention is a premier scrapbook convention and
is the largest of its kind on the African continent with 500 - 700
delegates. These scrapbook enthusiasts come from all of South Africa's major
cities: Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban, Nelspruit, Polokwane, East London
and Port Elizabeth to name but a few. Many too, travel from surrounding
countries, namely Botswana, Malawi, Swaziland, Mauritius, Zimbabwe, Namibia
and even as far afield as Brazil, Australia, the United Kingdom and Europe.

In 2008 there was a growing demand for an additional event and thus the
one-day event was created. It was also decided to host the event in Cape
Town as well as in Johannesburg. Currently we hold two events a year, namely
the one-day event in May and the two-day event in September in both
Johannesburg and Cape Town.

Glenda Viljoen is the owner of this event, and here's a peek at her creation featuring our Bella! Year In Review and Heritage products!

And we will be back tomorrow with another fun share!
