Tuesday Tutorial | Gift Box with Alicia

Today I am going to show you how I made this small gift box book as a Mother' s Day gift for next week. I first got the idea to make a book in this style from my very talented friend Sue Smyth.

I began with some of the new Kraftastic patterned papers and some decoupage images.  I have used two box lids around 6 inches wide as my base, and some thin chipboard sheets to create the book outer.

I cut strips of chipboard around 15 inches long and slightly wider than the lids. I put Natures Garden ribbon around three sides, then covered the pieces back and front with Kraftastic papers.

I covered the box lids with gesso, then joined them with hinges, and added a decorative bracket to the opening.
I also lined the inside of the  box lids.

For the front of the book, I have stenciled a design with texture paste and glitter. I have layered elements from Kraftastic paper, decoupage pieces, glitter and microbeads, along with wood veneer pieces, adhesive mesh and paper flowers.
