The New Kid on the Block

The New Kid on the Block

From little things, big things grow

This little quote speaks volumes to me. We all start out as small human beings with big hopes and dreams. As we venture into adulthood, our lives get caught in the midst of the rat race and it’s easy to lose sight of the bigger picture. It’s important to be true to ourselves and to never lose that passion deep within. It may take weeks, months or even years but by planting the first seed and never giving up, you will one day look back and realise just how far you have come.

Take art for example. From the humble beginnings of a blank canvas to a beautifully created masterpiece representing a true reflection of what inspires or makes you happy. YOU built this up from non-existence to what it is now. By enjoying what you do, you persevere every step of the way. Slowly but surely, edging closer and closer to achieving that dream. How liberating indeed!

Hi I’m Donna. I’m the newest team member here at Ruby Rock-It and delighted to be working alongside the talented Ruby Rock-It Creative Designers - Beck, Alicia, Christine and Teresa.

I live in beautiful sunny Queensland, Australia with my wonderful partner in crime Chris and our two delightful children, Brayden and Ellyana. My life changed for the better after becoming a mum. It’s nothing short of hectic but I wouldn’t have it any other way! The days might be long but the years are short, so I’m cherishing every moment.

There is something therapeutic and gratifying about Scrapbooking.  When I was introduced to the craft many years ago, I took an instant liking to it.  My first project was designing my wedding album. I wanted to create something unique and sentimental. Every chance I got, I’d set up at the kitchen table, glass of wine in tow and I’d scrapbook for hours. I loved reliving the fond memories of that special day over and over as I created page after page. Many months later, my little gem was complete! The album was alive with happy memories that spoke a thousand words at the turn of every page.

Aside from exercising my crafty side, I love all things digital – social media, website design blogging and e-Commerce. I run a gorgeous little online dress boutique and lifestyle blog.  This is a true reflection of who I am and its foremost purpose is to connect with like-minded women. In recent years I realised life was too short not to try new things. I am a HUGE believer that we can do anything we want in life if we just remove the fear of failure.

Failures are part of life.  If you don’t fail, you don’t learn.  If you don’t learn you’ll never change.

I always wanted to be a school teacher, ended up in human resource management and now a blogger, business owner & digital marketing guru. Not to mention a mum, devoted wife, keen scrapbooker and crazy cat owner! Life is great!

So that’s enough about me. I know you can’t wait to get your creative fix from our super talented Ruby Rock-it Design team. Throughout July we’ll be bringing you more amazing creations that’ll knock your socks off. Until next week, we wish you all a fantastic weekend. Bye for now!
