Hello Ruby Rock-It fans!
SO happy you have joined us these last weeks to welcome, meet and say HELLO to an amazing team. I am so thrilled to be working with and for all of these amazing artists. Cheers to all of you!
Then there's me, that girl behind the scenes. I'll come on from time to time to share updates, new products, exciting news, etc. I might just surprise all of you by contributing a design here and there....because really, I still do that in the background yet it's time for us to see other people SHINE.
I'm hoping to break out of the usual mold that this industry has put upon us. We are all artists in our own special way and we are here to show you how beautifully it can be done with Ruby Rock-it ranges.
I just moved to the PAC-NW last month where I am in the midst of a house sit until the end of January. So the space above is only a 'glimpse' of the bigger space that I have been allowed to use. Too bad I only traveled with what was in my car so it is humble yet usable. This is where I conquer all crafting crime, crises, challenges, etc (yes, I meant to use all 'c' words)....and I say that in a good context and with much love and admiration for the people I get to work with. Sometimes also you might just see a cape flying behind me.
Being mobile allows me the time and energy it takes to do freelance for Ruby Rock-It as well as other clients. I am very grateful and love that Joanna and Warren of Ruby Rock-It have intrusted me to take care of this amazing project, picking the very first U.S. team, social media, blog, etc. I can't wait to share all the exciting things that are ahead of us.
Stay tuned for a great December, the team is gearing up with amazing things to inspire you.
Hello !!My name is Benedicte, I'm a french scrapaddict. I'm SO happy to be in this amazing team :)!!
I’ve got two little girls – named Cassandre and Danae – who really inspire me. We live in Brittany (an area located in the West of France) with my husband, Yannick and my daughter-in-law Sarah. I’ve started scrapbooking about four years ago. I work as a psychologist so, I take care of the people who need help, like the homeless for example. I work three days a week and the other four days are dedicated to my family and... scrapbooking! I’m also interested in cooking and taking photographs.
I’m rather keen on freestyle with a touch of shabby, vintage and whimsy styles. What I enjoy creating the most are layouts but I still love working on mini-albums and art journals in which I use altered art techniques. From time to time, I like creating diy and home décor projects this “scrapboard wheel” for example.
Hi friends, I hope you have been enjoying our meet the team posts. I am Gina Lideros from Las Vegas, NV. I currently reside in Northern California with my husband, our 2 children, and 3 fur-babies. I have been scrapbooking since 1997 when a friend introduced me to a local scrapbook store. I was immediately hooked! Back then it was mostly stickers, die cuts and decorative scissors. You can say that my collection of scraps and embellishments have evolved ever since. I am so happy to be part of the Ruby Rock-it design team.
My Craft studio doubles as an office. I mostly use my desk for computer work and graphics, and I love that I have lots of space to display projects that I have made.
You might recognize those faces on my computer screen. They are some of my dearest friends that I have met in the scrapbooking industry. Next to my computer desk is my workspace desk. I use a 6 foot folding table, because I like to stretch out and have lots of space while I scrap.
First, is a chipboard book that I created with their Bella! Paper Boy collection.
Next, is a card that I also created with the Paper boy collection.
I love how fun and playful the Paper boy line is, and I can guarantee you that you will be seeing more projects from me in the future using this line.
Thanks for stopping by the Ruby Rock-it blog today. Make sure that you stop by tomorrow for a introduction from our team leader Rachel.
Have a wonderful day!
Hello, friends! I'm Keely Yowler from Georgetown, KY. I have a wonderfully supportive husband. Together, we have a blended family that includes 5 wonderful kiddos and lots of nieces and nephews, who are the inspiration for my art projects. I have been scrapbooking/paper crafting for 11 years. I love to create layouts, mini-albums, cards, and altered projects. I'm so happy to be a member of the 2011 Ruby Rock-It Design Team.
My craft studio is actually an alcove of the basement. I love having my own area to create and display inspiration pieces. I'm a vintage girl at heart and fill my room with lace tableclothes, vintage photos, old buttons, and trinkets from my childhood. My craft table is my favorite part of my studio. My husband built it for me one Mother's Day.
I want to share a few of my favorite Ruby Rock-It projects with you.
I created this fun layout with the Bella Paper Boy collection. The papers and diecuts are just perfect for the sports layout about my son, Houston.
I also created this wall art with the Bella Paper Boy collection. I took an unfinished wood piece I purchased at Michael's, painted, stamped, and altered with Ruby Rock-It goodies. I attached clothes pins at the bottom to clip notes for my son. I just love the final project! My son even thought it was, "Cool!".
Thank you so much for visiting Ruby Rock-It! Hop over to my blog to see more of my creations.
Hello Ruby Rock-It fans! I hope you all have been enjoying getting some sneaks into my fellow fabulous DT members' worlds as much as I have! Today, I get to share a little about me, Erin Yamabe. The beautiful Bay Area in California is where I was born and raised, and now am blessed to be a SAHM to two sweet and sassy girls...who as you will see are the main subjects of my scrappy work! And I am very grateful my husband gets that scrapping is a part of my daily world! I love being involved with our church and our daughters' schools, and I enjoy taking spin, yoga, and zumba classes in between those activities!
Shortly after our first daughter was born, I started "modern" scrapbooking you could say! And I was hooked after discovering an lss that was literally 10 minutes from my home!
My space is literally the back of our kitchen and I am so grateful to call it my own:)
As you can see, there's not much organization [I didn't inherit that gene!]...just sort of put things together that become my go to items! And I like to change out layouts, class samples, photos or little trinkets I may have out, for inspiration:)
Our kitchen hutch quickly became mine as well...so thankful my hubby doesn't mind! One of my favorite things, aside from my milk glass bowls, is the little jewelry case up on the top left...I found it while at an antique market with some dear friends, and it was the exact replica of my Grandma's old jewelry case!
"be you" would have to be my favorite Ruby Rock-It creation to date:) This color palette is just amazing, I love all the pretty contrasts here, and had so much fun with this one! I mean look at those gorgeous embellies...
And lastly, here is another layout that has been a cherished favorite of mine for awhile...
These photos were taken by a very dear friend, who I met through this wonderful hobby, who is now a professional photographer! She edited and sent these images to me in record time too, so that we would have them by that Xmas! I love layering as you will see...thank you for letting me share some of my world with you!
I am very excited to be here with this dynamic team, and am very thankful for this opportunity!
Come back tomorrow to see who will inspire you with her amazing talent!
Have a beautiful day!
Hi everyone! I’m Jodi Wilton, and I come from a small town, near Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada. I have three amazing kiddos: two girls, who are 7 and 16 months old, and a son (5). The three of them are my main scrappy subjects, and I love to document their every move. Yes, I am a mama-razzi! During the day, I have a home daycare, where I have the pleasure of playing and crafting with kids all day long. At night and into the wee hours of the morning, you can find me in my scrap room, destressing from the day! Where would I be without, my husband who has supported my paper crafting passion, from the day we met. We have been married for 8 wonderful years.
My crafty space started out as scrapping out of a box of supplies. As my passion for the hobby skyrocketed, the office slowly turned into a scrapbooking room, and even the hallway entering into this room, is now filled with crafty goodies. My room is always changing, as I find ways to make the small space more functional. Being a busy mom though, I tend to scrap in all areas of the house to make sure the little ones stay out of trouble. I usually go shopping with my picnic basket and fill it with supplies that I can create with anywhere in the house. Do you see the peg board below? I have been wanting one of these forever, and finally this weekend, my husband put it up for me, and why not fill it up with some Ruby Rock-it!
My favorite project that I submitted was my mini album. My friend took some amazing pictures of my darling daughter for her 1st birthday, and I was waiting for the perfect paper. Here is the cover:
Here are the inside pages:
Here is another favorite of mine. A fun fall layout! I love layering paper, and embellishments! Be sure to come by and say hello on my blog!
Good moning everyone! I hope you have enjoyed getting to know all these wonderfully talented women of the first US Design Team for Ruby Rock-It as much as I have. Today you get to meet me...My name is Carrie Walz. I am a stay at home mom with two children and a wonderful husband. I live about 45 minutes South of the magical Windy Cindy better known as Chicago!
My two wonderful children are usually the topic of my scrapbooking. My son Andrew is 16 years old and my daughter Alsyon is 10. You are probably going to get to know her a little bit better than my son since getting his picture taken now is "just not cool" as said in his own words, although I am able to sneek a few pictures in here and there.
My space, well we will let you be the judge...
Yeah, I know what you are thinking...but trust me, if it were all clean and put away, I would never find anything! Oh and if you happen to see a bag of candy corn or licorice, pay no attention to that....really it isn't mine. LOL!
When I started working witht the Ruby Rock-It products I was so excited. The quality is just amazing...you guys are gonna love it. My favorite RR project right now is the whimsical layout I did of my daughter:
As far as my "style" I think I am kinda clean and straight forward. I don't really do as much journaling as I should (I know, shame on me!) but I try to get it through in my titling work. I normally only used to do layouts but as of lately my comfort zone has been enlightened to cards and altered work. I tend to stick to a clean look sort of style but I am not afraid to mess it up a bit.
One of my all time favorite layouts is this one of me and my daughter. I just love the very candid shot:
And of course I have to show you one of my son. Not too much involved in this one but I love how bold of a statement just using cardstock acheived:
Yeah I know what you are thinking...these aren't Ruby Rock-It products. Well I guess you are gonna have to come like us on Facbook and follow our blog so you can see more!
Thanks for stopping by and getting to know me and make sure you come back tomorrow to see who is here!!
Hello Ruby Rock-it fans! My name is JJ Sobey, and I live with my husband, 2 kids, 3 cats (and a partridge in a pear tree) just outside of Montreal, in Québec, Canada. (That's just an hour north of Plattsburgh, NY, for those who did about as well in geography as I did, ha!). I am an unabashed geek and a coffee fanatic. I have been scrapping for about 6 years, since just after the birth of my son. My kids are the reason I started scrapbooking, and remain the most common subject of my work. I have a bit of scrappers split-personality as I switch between shabby-chic and more mixed media/freestyle depending on what project I'm working on. I love to use embellishments and a lot of layers, and if my hands get dirty in the process - even better. ;)
Some scrapbookers are lucky enough to have a studio to work in - but you don't need one in order to create projects you love, which is a good thing - because I work in a corner of my kitchen. Fortunately, our kitchen is the largest room in the house, and there is a counter/cupboard that is apart from the main cooking area (which was never practical, and was wasted space). I took it over for my scrapbooking when I realized I could get away with it. Working in the kitchen allows me to be right in the centre of all the household happenings, and I can keep an eye on dinner at the same time, ha ha!
I was going to show you a nice photo with everything all tidy and clean, but let's be real here, this is how it usually looks - I tend to clean it up when I discover I’m trying to work on a 12×12 project in an 8×8 space.
I have a lot of storage under that counter, which is perfect for all my art supplies, tools and most frequently used papers. We bought a second table for the kitchen for when I need extra workspace. The sides fold down so that the whole unit is less than a foot wide when I’m not using it. I slide it to wherever I need it at the time. (It’s also handy when doing art with the kids, or when friends come over to crop).
Here is one of the projects I created for my application, using the Paper Boy collection. It's a wood tissue-box cover for my son's room (I got a big thumbs up for this one from my little guy, too!) It was so much fun to use up some smaller pieces of the patterned paper and a bunch of the die-cut borders.
And here's a recent layout that shows some of my favorite things - mixing messy supplies, fun papers and trims.
Thanks for visiting!
Hello Ruby Rock-it fans! I'm Debbie Sherman and I wanted to share a little bit about myself with you!
First of all, I live in Wyoming surrounded by the beautiful Rocky Mountains. I am a Road Designer by day which is another way to be creative for me. I am married and have 6 grandkids! They are my subject of choice, so get ready to meet them, you will be seeing alot of them!! I'm in the middle of building a new home and with that new home comes a new scraproom! Here's where I create right now...please excuse the mess...I'm half way packed up!
Now that you know where I create, I'd like to share a layout with you that is one of my all time favorites. The photo is of my mother as a young woman. I truly treasure this photo because it shows a side of her I will never know. She was 17 in this photo and so young and beautiful. The layout reflects my favorite style of scrapping.
I love making my own embellishments! Here is a close-up of one of the flowers I made for this layout. I can't wait to share some of these techniques with all of you!
Now to share with you one of my projects with Ruby Rock-it's Christmas Cheer Collection. I love creating banners! They are so much fun and I love adding everyday elements such as the spools you see in between the stockings. This banner is one of my favorites and it will be hanging up on my mantel this Christmas!
Hi! My name is Becky Olsen and I am thrilled to be a member of this amazing team! I have been learning about them everyday along with you, and everyday I have been inspired and motivated by these delightful artists!
It is quite possible that I am the the most "life experienced" member of the team, and with that comes all of the adventures that have helped shape me into what I am today. My husband of 24 years and I have 4 fantastic children, 3 of which are University of Utah students and the last is a sophomore in high school. They don't do cute things for the camera anymore, which makes their lives a little harder to document, so I do have to be stealthier in my approach and say "oh well" a whole lot more than I would like to. The upside to this is having crafting buddies that are available as sounding boards for design issues and inspiration for those days when the mojo fairy hasn't dropped by for a visit.
This room is lovingly referred to as the "Crap Room" by the hubbers and kids, but I proudly call it my studio and is where I have the luxury of spending a good portion of my day.
My favorite project made with Bella Paper Dollz collection is a layout called "Bubbles". These pictures of my daughters playing with a bubble gun at Disneyland are very precious to me, and this layout captures their joy perfectly.
One of my all time favorite layouts is this one. It captures my love for techniques and tools but is simple and tells a sweet story. I love techniques, and finding a way to implement them in my projects without overworking or cluttering is a challenge that I enjoy taking when I create. The question I ask myself every time is, "What can I take off the design and still have it work?"
I also love to create off the page projects, like this tussy mussy using the Christmas Cheer collection. These allow me the opportunity to play with shape, textures and dimension! There are so many places to take paper crafting, that sometimes I get overwhelmed by the number of ideas that are in my head. Thank goodness I have a studio filled with goodies waiting for me to get those ideas made.
Thanks so much for stopping by! Please be sure to visit us again and meet the talented Benedicte Raphalen, our team mate from France.
