Since living and working in the States, I have learned that American's take their holidays seriously and love to celebrate, including in schools. While religious holidays are out, others are all in, including Valentine's Day. We will have a class party, there will be gift exchanges. It's a big deal. I'm currently teaching second grade, and usually like to give my students something small for celebrations, and pencils are always a big hit. Places like the dollar store almost always have fun themed pencils very cheap.
To make them a little more special, I thought I would turn them into a proper favour using Bella! Glitz card stock. I think even the boys will like these. They are super simple to make, and you really don't even have to be a crafter. This is a great alternative for parents who want to provide a non sweet valentine.
I used word to create a simple arrow outline. This is just one of the pre-set arrows. You could always find a more fancy one with a quick google search. I added my message and printed straight onto plain red card stock.
I then mounted the arrow onto pink Glitz card stock and trimmed, then again onto red Glitz. I hand drew my heart shape on the back of the card stock and cut out. You could just as easily use a die to cut the shape. You could even layer it up with a nice doily die cut. I added dimensional paint dots around the outside. I attached the pencil with some foam dots so that the kids can easily remove it.
Supplies:
Bella! Glitz card stock
